Even though my preference is to be outside... the weather is cold, the snow is constant and it feels good right now to be by the fire staring at a screen.
I'm also teaching a few B&W darkroom classes (yes with film and chemistry). Of course it is the basis of everything digital, but more than that, it's now an art form as opposed to a necessity. Anyone that has worked with film knows the satisfaction of the delayed gratification of seeing film you've had to wait for and the pleasure of seeing an image emerge in the developer.
That said, for me the real pleasure is taking the image and making it personal with experimental chemistry and hands on manipulation. Photoshop is great but there's nothing like making art by hand. (check out the "lith" prints [textured] under "personal" on my site).

new images
After a busy season, there is now time for a long overdue update! Check out the new images in the wedding gallery and soon there will be new work in the other galleries.
It's been an interesting year economically and many photographers that I talk with are trying to balance a fair price with a quality product. With much thought and consideration, I feel that I've developed a good compromise to help everyone that is working within a budget and still wanting a great choice of photos.
The thing that won't be compromised is quality, which means each image is treated individually. The good thing about digital photography is having the ability to control and enhance an image. It takes time but the results are worth it.
If you like what you see, send an e-mail and let's talk about what you're looking for before you invest in a photographer.
Thanks, and I hope to hear from you.
